Las Vegas New Homes Guide Wins Seven Awards in National Competition

Las Vegas New Homes Guide (LVNHG) was the winner of seven awards at the recent Housing Guides of America competition which included Housing Guides from all over North America and Canada. LVNHG was the recipient of three gold awards and four silver awards in the competitive national contest.

“We did a great job considering the competition was tougher this year than in the past,” stated Claire DeJesus, LVNHG publisher. “It’s a team effort to put out a superior publication every month and I think these awards validate that effort.”

The team from LVNHG won gold for Best Cover for their April 2007 cover which featured a Lennar community, Best Color Reproduction, and Best Ad designed by a Housing Guide staffer. As for the silver awards, LVNHG was acknowledged for Best Maps, Best Industry News Section and Overall Excellence in Design.

The LVNHG team also won a silver award for Best Article which was a feature that focused on entertainment areas. “The feature, entitled ‘Living like Royalty – Entertainment Areas Foster a Feeling of Majesty,’ showcased some of the most outstanding rooms used for entertainment purposes available in the Southern Nevada marketplace,” explained Editor Beth Schwartz. “We illustrated each builder’s designated entertainment area with a photo, and detailed not only each plan’s rich amenities but we also presented the interior accents that made each home worthy of nobility.”

Staff members that worked on the award-winning LVNHG include: Trudi Bentley, Claire DeJesus, Jeff Hampton, Reather McDaniel, Beth Schwartz, Cindy Slanec, Andrew Van Wie.

Toll Brothers earns ENERGY STAR® Housing Award

Local builder Toll Brothers has earned the ENERGY STAR® Home Leadership Housing Award. “At Toll Brothers, we are committed to building energy efficient homes that control costs and help reduce emissions for a cleaner planet,” Gary Mayo, president of Toll Brothers, Las Vegas, said.

To qualify as ENERGY STAR, a home must meet guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to code in 2004 and include additional energy savings features that typically make them 20 to 30 percent more efficient than standard homes.

Toll Brothers was recognized for building 104 ENERGY STAR qualified homes in 2007. According to ENERGY STAR, Toll Brothers contribution to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection was equivalent to:

• Eliminating emissions from more than 72 vehicles

• Saving 39,936 pounds of coal

• Planting more than 10 acres of trees

• Saving home owners $46,488 on their utility bills

Toll Brothers is currently building ENERGY STAR qualified homes at Hidden Canyon, Summerlin, Mountain’s Edge, MacDonald Highlands at The Retreat, Providence, Vita Bella at Lake Las Vegas Resort and Inspirada.
